ART FRAUD on EBAY!! MY ART Has Been Stolen!

So, can you even believe that some creep in CHINA is trying to sell MY WORK, as well as other artists such as Philip Gladstone on ebay?? PLEASE be aware at HOW MUCH ART FRAUD is taking place on ebay! This is the very reason SOOOOO many artists have and continue to leave ebay!I had just listed a couple paintings this evening on ebay just to keep my name out there and was SHOCKED to see MY PAINTING above listed by thinking_shop2008 . I have contacted ebay and was told to fill out a form and report this person which I did, but something more needs to be done as these creeps will simply open up shop with a different name. It's a game these cons play...please RESEARCH the ARTIST before you buy...when in DOUBT ask several established ARTISTS what their opinion is of a 'so-called artist'. GOOGLE the artist....and as always if something looks a little too good to be true or fishy, chances are it is ART FRAUD!This seller has 38!! pages of paintings, is that not enough of a clue ebay???

**UPDATE:MY painting was finally removed by the seller (NOT ebay!)...I went and listed the exact SAME PAINTING as the image is MINE...take that CHINA!Pretty sad to see that the seller is STILL selling!

  2. This seems to be a recurring problem on Ebay and I have come across a few artists who have had the same problem. Ebay really needs to sit and take notice and the best thing you have done is by making this post naming/shaming the culprit....dont know what is about China, but they all seem to be coming from there and it is mass produced, so the quality of the work is poor. I wish you luck with getting it sorted.

  3. I'm so sorry. My aunt and uncle found their beach house for sale on ebay. I've found many great artists on ebay and know it is them but I will be careful! I really try hard not to buy from China, Hong Kong, etc when on ebay I just don't trust it!

  4. Oh heck!A beach house!Wow, I guess I don't have much to complain about then...how scary!I think maybe with the economy the way it is, fraud is just having a field day...have a great day!

  5. I think the crooks stealing your art should be banned! Are you going to follow-up with Ebay?

  6. Believe me in my experience and other artists & photographers who have had to deal with ebay, it is largely a waste of time...I say forget ebay and shop ETSY! :o)

  7. Ugh, icky, nasty, bleh!! eBay...
It was just so nervy of this guy, but you know (and I am sure you do) he is just one of many. I no longer sell me originals from eBay and may move totally off by fall. Good on you for making such a stink Lara!

  8. I agree with forgetting about ebay. It's a real dump now. You're much better off at Etsy. ;)

  9. I know I really think I am done with ebay...I will probably still buy a few things here & there but I think etsy is a much classier place to be :o)

  10. Hi Lara,

I'm so sorry to hear this, this is unforgivable on the part of ebay. If you bring something to their attention and is blatantly obvious that some one has ripped off your work, they should absolutely do something about it! The almighty dollar has blinded ebay, so sad and it makes me so angry. All I can say is Karma is a b*tch and these shysters deserve everything that will eventually come their way! Whew...I feel better now!

Listen my sweet blog pal, I'm going to do my little part to help counteract this...I'm going to do a blog feature on you within the next week. We all need to stick together, blast ebay and promote each other.

    Hugs,
    Karyn

  12. I hope ebay does something about this! I know a few others that have had the same thing happen to them with their photography. I will be checking out the artist before I buy. I usually buy on etsy.
    I really love your work.

  13. I know what you mean...I know of at least 3 'so-called artists', one of who has been a power seller on ebay for years who steals copyrighted photos, paints over a printed image, and sells them as originals...it's really infuriating and this person has no conscience about it whatsoever...nor do the others, but it is fraud.Being an artist it is so easy for me to spot, but many, many people have been fooled...such a shame!

  14. This is really horrid but how lucky that you caught it out of the trillions of paintings on Ebay.
I had a mysterious Chinese-sounding(I deduced this from the spelling & grammar errors) person warn on Flickr that my work is being copied right and left, so I've started adding copyrights (c) on top with but Flickr editing I doubt this will stop them.
    Truly it's very frustrating.
I love all your doggies indiscriminately!
    Best,

  15. I agree, I've heard that isn't a great deal we can do other than try and post small images only which I have been trying to do...I've heard some know how to remove the watermarks and this creep cropped off the bottom of the painting so you could not see the signature! Kimberly Shaw is dealing with a company who has copied her designs on fabric...it is frustrating, but I guess in every field you get criminals who lie & steal to get ahead...but I firmly believe there will come a day when they will have to answer for their behavior! God bless! I SO want to get a piece of yours at some stage, I just love your work!:o)

  16. OH!!! THis makes me so mad!! These people are so stupid!! To imagine the theves using the name "Thinking" in their company name is beyond comprehension. You know how I feel about this!!!! OH!!! THIS JUST... I am so sorry friend, creaps, all of them. The good news, God is bigger and sees what they are doing (Jeremiah Ch. 7). Stay encouraged. I just learned how to contact ebay about copyright infringement. If you don't know already, let me know I'll pass it on. -Kim

  17. Yeah, I know about the Vero program and everything, but it sounds to me like Etsy does a lot more than ebay about stopping fraud...I'm seriously leaning towards never listing on ebay again...sad to say, but I and so many artists have just had it with art fraud, unlimited fee increases, it's just not so nice selling on there anymore...

  19. I'm so sorry...what a nightmare. Who would do such a thing?! In any event, I wanted to thank you for stopping by my blog and introducing me to yours. My family and I are HUGE dog lovers! I have two, one of whom is a rescue from Puerto Rico (a pitt bull mix), and one of whom is a chocolate lab. You are really talented and I love all the personalities you bring to life in your work. Keep up the great work and don't be deterred by eBay crooks!!
