Bernese Mountain Dog Painting in OIL & Update on Taffy

Just finished this Bernese Mountain Dog painting which will be available in my store on etsy or if you are interested in purchasing it feel free to contact me! Taffy is still in his fight against bone cancer...it's been pretty rough this past week, he doesn't want to eat much and the tumor has gone thru his cheekbone and into his mouth. Meds have been difficult to get in at times, so much so that when he does not want to take them by mouth we have to give them the other way...I know, not pretty but if it means saving his life, well you just do it. Thank you for your contiued prayers & if you are interested in having a portrait done or know of anyone please feel free to contact me and/or pass along my name. God bless!

This is one of my first paintings of 2010! An adorable Bernese Mountain Dog named Berkley. The photo I used didn't actually have him in the snow, but I thought it so fitting given the breed and current arctic conditions here in Michigan! This piece may already be spoken for, but of not it will be available in the next couple of days. If you are interested in having a pet portrait done of your precious pooch, feel free to drop me a line!

I'd also like to mention that I will be starting off the New Year with an on air interview with Red River Writers on Blog Talk Radio at 4:20PM EST! I've never actually done a live interview before so it should be interesting. You can even call in with questions, or just have a listen. Here is the link to their page. Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and all the best in 2010!!

This is an adorable Bernese Mountain Dog named of course "Bernie". It is my 3rd painting for my Painting a Pup a Day Project. The owner is Büşra Merve Özçelik, and her Flickr id is mervecan_156. This is what she wrote about her beloved Bernie:

"My dog is so special for me...I was imagining that breed when ı was 5, and 11 years (later) I got my baby. Now she is my everything ..I am living for her... I really admire her, because of her colours, fur, smile, and so many kinds of things like this."

I just love Bernese Mountain Dogs because their coloring is so interesting. I was shocked to learn that they don't have a very long life span, generally only 7 years. But I would imagine the love they bring into their owner's life makes it well worthwhile to own one!
